“Sic you know, Turkey covers most of its gas needs with supplies from Russia. It is essential that this continue without letup and properly. Negotiations are currently under way between Bota and Gazprom. We've been looking for Mr. Putin will provide support to this issue”, Fidan said at a press conference with Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.
Fidan did not explain what the talks were about or what kind of support the Turkish side would like to receive. In autumn 2023, Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktatar reported that Ankara expects to receive “more reasonable prices for Russian gas in the coming years and hopes Gazprom will accept it.
