US President Donald Trump claimed to have told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to attack Iran, while the American leader voiced optimism about the nuclear talks his administration is holding with Tehran.
Iran said it could consider allowing Americans to inspect its nuclear buildings as part of the United Nations nuclear surveillance team if an agreement is reached.
Trump was asked if during his telephone conversation with Netanyah, he told him not to take any action that would prevent diplomacy. The American leader replied: “To be honest, I said”

Asked again by reporters what he said to Israeli Prime Minister Trump, Trump replied: “I said I don't think it's appropriate, we're having very good discussions with them”.
The American leader added that “said it wouldn't be appropriate to do so now because we're very close to a” solution.
I think they'll reach an agreement and if we reach an agreement, a lot of lives will be saved”.
Tehran and Washington in recent weeks have conducted five rounds of nuclear-focused talks. These are the highest-level contacts since Trump in 2018 withdrew from the nuclear agreement Iran had reached with world powers.
During a visit to Qatar earlier in May, Trump expressed optimism about reaching an agreement with Iran that would avoid a military confrontation.
Israel views Iran as its main enemy. Israel has repeatedly threatened to strike Tehran's nuclear buildings as the two sides exchanged attacks last year.
Iran denies Western accusations that it aims to create nuclear weapons, insisting that its programme has peaceful and civilian aims.
After Trump withdrew the US from the nuclear agreement in 2018, Washington imposed sanctions on the Islamic Republic, including the ban on all states on buying Iranian oil.
On the other hand, Iran began to violate the principles of the agreement and enrich uranium beyond the limits defined in the nuclear agreement.
While welcoming negotiations with Washington, Iranian officials have repeatedly declared enriching uranium “is an non-negotiable matter”. The US insists Iran will not be allowed to enrich uranium either at low levels, for civilian purposes, as allowed in the nuclear agreement reached in 2015.
Iran currently enrichs uranium to 60 percent the highest level of enrichment from a country without nuclear weapons. Tehran, however, is above 90 percent of its enrichment, not enough for nuclear weapons, but far higher than 3.67 percent, was not defined by the 2015 nuclear agreement. / REL
