US President Donald Trump has denied that he is thinking of running for a third presidential mandate, a move the experts say is banned under the US Constitution.
Trump said earlier that he was not kidding “about wanting to serve a third or even a fourth term, as president of the US, Time.net conveys.
But then he said his statements were meant to control “the media of false news”.
His company, The Trump Organisation, has sold hat “Trump 2028”, prompting speculation that he may seek to stay in office after his second term ends in January 2029.
The 22nd Constitution Amendment says that “no person can be elected to the office of president more than twice”.
The amendment to the constitution would require the adoption of two-thirds of the Senate and the House of Representatives, as well as approval by three-quarters of the country's state-level governments. /Periscope/
