“I told anyone who would listen that this should be”, Trump declared to reporters in Morristown, New Jersey, on May 25th, as he was preparing to return to Washington.
Von der Leeyen, according to Trump, pledged that the EU would soon be committed to working towards a solution, reports the Associated Press.
In a post in social media on Friday, Trump had threatened the EU with tariffs, complaining about the 27-member bloc's approach and lack of progress in the talks.
Tarifat, he had warned, would go into effect on June 1st.

For her part, von Der Leeyen said the EU and the US “have the most important and close trade relationship in the world”.
“Europe is ready for rapid and decisive progress in the talks”, she said. To reach a good agreement, we will need time until July 9th”
