Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Abelard Tahiri has called for the immediate suspension of the ZERE decision to exit businesses in the free electricity market on June 1st 2025, because this situation will make the economic situation worse.

Tahiri, at a media conference, stressed that alarming energy price figures so far are the result of fabricated auctions and tremendous benefits for companies associated with Kurti Government.

“The Democratic Party of Kosovo requires extraordinary auditing by the National Audition Office and independent audiences for auctions, beneficiaries and spent sums, immediate suspension of the decision to exit businesses on the free market; as well as deepening investigation by the Special Prosecutor for all officials and actors involved in this scandal”, Tahiri added.

He said that after three years of blocking by the parliamentary majority not to allow the investigation of the energy sector, Kosovo citizens have the right to know the truth about abuses of life and their economy.

“Publicing official reports on electricity trading over the past year has confirmed the Democratic Party of Kosovo's continued allegations of abuses in the energy sector. In just one day, the price of power transmission rose from 2 to 798 euros for MWh, causing the budget a damage of over 1m euros to just 6 hours”, Tahiri said.
