The quake in Valais canton had been felt quite clear near the era, reports. The report was verified by Switzerland's seismological Service (SED) in ETH Zürrich after the automated announcement.
The quake took place 10 kilometers from Müre in Valais.
Of this magnitude of earthquakes, there is no expected damage, the SED added. The seismological service registers between 1,000 and 1,500 earthquakes annually in Switzerland and neighbouring countries.
