A tragic event occurred Wednesday evening near the Hebrew Capital Museum in Washington, where a man and a woman a young couple who were preparing to get engaged were killed by gunfire. American and Israeli authorities have confirmed their deaths.
The attacker has been identified as Elias Rodriguez, 30, of origin from Chicago and bound by left conviction. According to the police statement, during the arrest he has shouted “Leary for Palestine”, raising doubts about an ideological motive after the attack.

Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, announced that police received several calls for shooting around 21:08 local time, near the intersection between Third Street and F Street, in northwest part of the city. At the scene, police found two unconscious adults with no signs of life.
Despite prompt relief efforts and firemen, the victims passed away from their wounds. The couple had just completed their participation in organized activity within the Hebrew Capital Museum. The American Jewish Committee (AJC) confirmed the observance of an event that evening.
Israeli Ambassador to the US Yechiel Letter stated that the victims were a young couple on the eve of engagement the young man was said to have bought the engagement ring the same week and planned to propose to Jerusalem next week.
According to police, the attacker was seen acting nervously in front of the museum just before the incident. Then he approached a group of four, pulled a gun, and fired. Two of them, unfortunately, lost their lives at the scene.
After the shooting, Rodriguez entered the museum, where he was neutralized by security. During the ban, he pointed to where he had thrown the weapon, which the authorities later found.
Police have confirmed that there had never been a threat documented by Rodriguez before and believe he acted alone. There are no indicators for any further danger to the public.
Authorities have warned a press conference, which is expected to share other details about the shocking case affecting the local community and beyond.
