Police said three victims suffered serious injuries and are being treated in various hospitals, as the unknown suspect attacked celebrants before a bar in the centre of the city with a sharp object and then left the scene.
They later said that they could not rule out the possibility that more people were injured in the attack, transmits Telegrafi.
German news agency dpa reported that celebrants were football fans from a local team who defended themselves against the attackers before he left.
The city's Armina Bielefeld football club won the match Saturday and became the 3rd division champion. According to police, the attacker may have been hurt in the face.
Bilelfeld police said in a statement that they found several knives at the scene of the attack, and that they have activated a telephone line for witnesses, urging people to upload videos and photos of the attack.
They warned anyone who sees the suspect keep his distance and call emergency services because the husband may be armed and dangerous. /Periscope/
