The US Secret Service interviewed former FBI Director James Comey on Friday for a post on social networks, where he is accused of calling for President Donald Trump's murder, according to an official.
“Today, federal agents from @SecretService interviewed the former humiliated director of the FBI, Comey, in connection with a post in social media calling for the murder of President Trump”, wrote Secretary of National Security Kristi Noem in X.
Her comments came a day after Comey posted a photo on the Instagram showing sea shells arranged in the formation “86 47” with the inscription: “Formation of shells during my trip to the beach”, AA writes.
The term “86” has been collectively associated with eliminating something or someone. Merriam-Webster dictionary defined it as a “refusal to serve (a client)” or to get rid of “or “to drop” somebody or something. Meanwhile, “47” is seen as a reference to the 47th US President Trump.
Although Comey quickly erased the picture, it spread widely into social media.
Noem said he would continue to take all necessary measures to ensure Trump's protection.
“This is an ongoing investigation,”, she added.
Come later shared a statement in the Instagram insisting that it was a mistake.
I posted a picture of some shells I saw today during a walk on the beach, which I assumed were a political message.
I didn't know that some people connected those numbers to violence. I never thought about it, but I'm against all kinds of violence, so I removed the post”, he wrote, broadcasts cosovapress.
Trump also accused Comey of calling for his murder.
He knew exactly what that meant. A child knows what that meant. If you're the director of the FBI and you don't know what that meant, that would mean murder”, Trump told Fox News. /Periscope/
