International relations are experiencing an unusual turn, according to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who declared that for the first time in decades, it is America that is calling for peace, while some European countries are supporting the approach of military escalation.
Speaking at the Board's Event at the Kennedy Centre, Rubio said: “tell people we have a president of peace Donald Trump. One of the cardinals with whom I met the day before the papal Mass even said: It's very unusual for us. We have an American president who wants peace and some Europeans who are constantly talking about war. ) So the world is kind of upside down in their minds right now. And usually the opposite. ”
Rubio noted that the focus of the Trump administration is the ban on major armed conflicts, including the war in Ukraine, and the achievement of diplomatic solutions as soon as possible. He stressed that the United States is making major investments in defence and security, but the final objective is for these financial means to be redirected towards economic development and the public sector.
“We are strengthening our security, but a America without conflicts means that we can invest more in education, infrastructure and health,” said Rubyo.
Rubio expressed concern that the rhetoric of escalation by some European leaders could lead to unforeseen consequences.
The senior U.S. official also mentioned that a reconfiguration of the traditional US role as a dominant actor in global conflicts is already apparent: “President Trump doesn't want war he wants agreement and stability”. /Periscope/
