The Kosovo Radio Television Union has reacted after criticism that journalist Blerim Hadziaj received for the touching interview he conducted with incumbent Prime Minister Albin Kurtin, reports Periscope.
From this union, they have said that trying to intigulate or discredit a journalist because of his questions or his questions, represents direct attack on media freedom and its role in a democratic society.
By RTK's Independent Union, they called it <x0) To Blerim Hadziaj.
Response:
Reaction against lynching campaign to RTK journalist Blerim Hadziaj
Kosovo's Independent Radio Television Union repeatedly denounced the lynching campaign and attacks orchestrated in television studios that are under way in the direction of union member, Kosovo Radio Television journalist, Mr. Blerim Hadziaj, following his interview with Kosovo Republic Prime Minister Mr. Albin Kurti.
Every attempt to denigrate or discredit a journalist because of his questions or his questions, represents direct attacks on media freedom and its role in a democratic society.
The Independent Trade Union of RTK Workers estimates that the very tendency to influence others in the way of the journalist (read: lynning campaign to journalist Blerim Hadziaj) is essentially to violate fundamental rights and freedoms, that of freedom of expression and media freedom.
It's a pity how AGK, the organization that has been called to protect journalists from such lynching attacks, has still not seen the way to condemn this lynching campaign and call for a free and secure environment for the practice of journalism in our country.
Mr. Hadhajaj is a long-term professional, and his work in the service of public information cannot be derived from the comments or attacks of those who are at least known for independent journalism in Kosovo, who do not understand or accept free journalism in a democratic society like Kosovo.
We call on public opinion, institutions and civil society to distance themselves from lynching and to defend the right of journalists to exercise their profession without fear and pressure. Democracy is not built with pressure and pressure on the media, but with free debate, with independent media and informed citizens.
Freedom of expression and media freedom are not negotiable, so the Union expresses support for journalist Blerim Hadziaj and all other colleagues facing such attacks because of their professional duty.
Respectfully
Headship of Independent RTK Union
