Today, Bologhan signed a decree on the appointment of Predoyu as Romania's incumbent prime minister, who will carry out official duties until the formation of a new government, the president's cabinet reported, Aãorspres.
Yesterday, Marcel Colak resigned from the post of prime minister. The National Political Council of Romanian Socialists (PSD) decided yesterday that the party would leave the ruling coalition and that Collac resign from the prime minister's post.
The ruling “has no legitimacy, at least not in this composition. I suggested to my colleagues that we leave the coalition, which leads to my resignation as prime minister, which I present to the country's president”, Colac said.
Colac told reporters earlier that he was considering the possibility of resigning, given the poor outcome achieved by the candidate in the presidential election supported by the ruling coalition, which did not enter the second round of elections.
Opposition lawyer Djordje Simion and Bucharest Mayor Nickikhor Dan will fight 18 May in the second round of elections for Romania's new president, according to Romanian media, referring to Central Election Commission data.
After processing 99.99 per cent of the ballot, Simion won 40.94 per cent of the vote, and Nickikhor Dan 20.99 per cent of the vote, reports Romanian portal Digi24. The ruling coalition candidate, Crin Antonescu, received 20.07 per cent of the vote. /Periscope/
