Albania's prime minister, Edi Rama, has denied having in Great Britain or other countries similar to that of Italy for immigrants.
Rama made these comments during a joint conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Tirana, where he said the agreement with Italy was made due to special relations between the two countries and thanks to the geographical situation.
With humor, Rama said there are many other states that have asked Albania to sign the same agreements as Italy, but according to him, our country is loyal to marriage to Italy and relations with other countries according to the prime minister are just love.
I've been very clear since the first day since we started this process with Italy, which was a single deal with Italy because of our special relationship, but thanks to the geographical situation that is extremely meaningful. To be honest with you, we've been asked a number of places if we were open to this and we said no, because we're loyal to Italy and the rest is just love”, Rama said, broadcast A2. CNN.
The British prime minister has said his country is discussing such an agreement with many other states.
We are discussing this issue with a number of states in terms of these return centres. And I see this as actually a new and important innovative issue, which is in line with the work we've done for example, lowering numbers from Albania, the record number of returns we've had... Even we're having these discussions, meanwhile,”, Starmer declared.
On the other hand, Starmer has said he is working to return Albanian illegal migrants.
“Addressing illegal migration abroad and destroying gangs in origin, making our roads safer and facilitating pressure on public services”, he declared.
Starmer has arrived first of all European leaders in Tirana, where the European Union summit will be held tomorrow. /Periscope/
