In a media communiqué, the LDK emphasises the historic importance of this date, linking it to the first parliamentary and presidential elections held in 1992, which, according to it, constituted not only an electoral act but also a key moment on Kosovo's journey towards freedom, independence and democracy.
This process also marked the historic event of the election of the first president of Kosovo, Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, who as Kosovo leader, became a guide, a missionary, leading a whole people with commitment and vision on his way to freedom, independence and democracy”, the party's statement said.
The LDK named Rugova as an irreplaceable figure in the history of Kosovo statehood, a spiritual and political leader who guided the nation in difficult times and contributed to efforts for international recognition of the new state.
This day, according to the LDK, is a reminder of the political and historical heritage Rugova left behind and of the importance of continuing his vision of a democratic and integrated Kosovo into Euro-Atlantic structures. /Periscopi/
