Kosovo police, through an official announcement made public by the North Mitrovica Police Station, have rejected several media and social media reports, which presented an activity conducted in the city as “protes” or “passing the” situation. According to police authorities, this information is inaccurate and does not reflect reality on the ground.
In her statement, police have clarified that activities that have sparked concerns and misunderstandings in public had no protestive or destabilizing characters at all.
It was simply about the traditional defiling of North Mitrovica municipality seniors, a festive event that is held each year on the end of high school. This activity, as highlighted in the report, was warned in advance by students themselves near the Kosovo Police, which had taken all measures for its prosperity and security.
Kosovo's “Police have taken care of the management and care of this event, which has ended quietly and without any problems”, the report says.
Several minor provocations have been reported during this festive edition, but according to police, the police's quick and cautious reaction has prevented the situation from getting out of control.
According to police, with its intervention it has managed to prevent any possibility of escalation, and the holiday has continued without further problems.
“During senior prom celebrations have occurred several provocations and, with the aim of avoiding any escalation, police have reacted. The situation has calmed down and seniors have continued their holiday without needing additional response”, further stressed in the statement.

Security authorities have encouraged citizens to report any suspected cases or dangerous behaviour in the 911 emergency number in order to create a safer environment for all.
