PDK: Kosovo's decline in 99th country is a black day for freedom of expression

Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Blerta Deliu-Codra, Kosovo's fall to 99th in the Reporters Without Borders' report on freedom of expression, has charged Vetevendosje-led Government for “lynching and intimidation”. Deliu-Codra, at a news conference, has said this is one of the darkest moments in [...]
Deliu-Kodra, at a news conference, has said this is one of the darkest moments in the history of the state of Kosovo.
“Today, data published by Reporters Without Borders lists Kosovo in 99th place by 180 states in the world for freedom of expression. This is the lowest ranking in Kosovo's history. A humiliating, dramatic and alarming decline: from country 56 to 2023 to 75th in 2024, to end today in 99th! And the report leaves no doubt: the government of Vetevendosje is responsible for this decline. Those who came on behalf of change are making Kosovo rather than fear and silence. We all felt this drop. They felt the reporters being attacked. It's been experienced by citizens who were born... The decline in media freedom level is not a slide, but a deliberate collapse. Vetevendosje has built a lynching and intimidation regime. Co-ordinated, orchestrated attacks, with a propaganda machine targeting every critical voice, especially on social networks”, she stressed.
Deliu-Codra said Kosovo is the victim of a bad power, marking the decline in any economic, social and security indicators.
And if we've once agreed on one thing with Albin Kurtin, it was this: Aleksandar Vuciq is autism. But today, when Kosovo ranks worse than Serbia in freedom of expression, we should ask loudly: If freedom of speech in Kosovo is more limited than in Serbia, what would Albin Kurti be? That's a question challenging every citizen's conscience. This is the mirror where each of us must see reality. After all, a power that fears the word is a power that knows there is no right. And any power that has no right, there is no future. We're here to tell this truth. And we'll say it every day. Until the truth becomes the power. And free speech will become the foundation of Republic” again, the PDK MP stressed. /Periscope/
