Two acts have been adopted at today's meeting of the Council of Ministers that pave the way for delaying the validity of identity documents for citizens in the residential territory of the Republic of Albania, which has either expired or completed this deadline on May 11th 2025.
The adoption of norms is aimed at guaranteeing the constitutional right of all citizens to vote without obstacles in general parliamentary elections. Under that decision, the ID validity deadline, electronic IDs and biometric passports ending on May 11th 2025 until May 31st 2025”, the Interior Ministry reports.

The Interior Ministry suggests that in co-operation with the CEC, the institutions of addiction, such as the Civil State service, or other agencies, has taken all measures to meet legal obligations, to ensure that the 11 May election process is conducted calmly and without obstacles to citizens abroad and within borders.
