“For logistical reasons, we are delaying the US-Iran meeting, which was planned in advance for Saturday, May 3rd. The new date for the talks will be announced as soon as we have an agreement on both sides”, said X Network Albusadi, who mediated the previous three rounds of talks in Muscat and Rome, Periscope.
American portal Axios reported, citing sources, that the fourth round of negotiations has been postponed with many possibilities for next week. The portal states that meeting Iran's representatives with Great Britain, France and Germany -- that is, the E3 group, scheduled for Friday -- will probably be postponed as well.
Just over a month ago, the US and Iran began negotiations that would lead to a reduction of Iran's nuclear programme and the removal of financial sanctions against Tehran. Yesterday, the United States imposed new sanctions on companies that were accused of participating in the illegal oil trade and Iranian petrochemical products, ahead of a new round of US-Iran negotiations.
