Reports coming from Bloomberg and Reuters claim the defence alliance has been worried about Russian increased hostility and is seeking to strengthen its defence, Telegrafi broadcast.
Accurate figures for NATO targets -- be it generally or place after country -- are difficult to verify because information is classified.
But a senior military official told Reuters that the goal for the total number of brigades that NATO allies will have to offer in the future will increase to between 120 and 130.
And another official of NATO told Bloomberg that the coalition “is setting ambitious new capacity targets for allies”.
In 2021, Germany agreed to offer 10 brigade units that usually consist of about 5,000 troops for NATO by 2030.
Currently, there are eight brigades and is building a ninth in Lithuania to be ready by 2027. /Periscope/
