Nat Hasani: Sentences at The Hague Could bring unrest throughout region

Hasan has described this process as unfair and dangerous to the stability of the region.

I think that the Special Court has been a challenge from the beginning, that parties had to do together in terms of protecting the interests of the state, values of war, our freedom and the KLA. The blood of those martyrs who have become valuable has been created. Today Kosovo is a state thanks to our war. Hashim Thaci is being tried there, not as individuals, but as war leaders. Rexhep Selimi, Kadri Veselini, Jakup Krasniqi, Salih Mustafa, Peter Shala and others. That's why it's supposed to be the politicians from the start, not saving anything. It is the interest of the state of Kosovo, it should not be allowed to judge Kosovo there”.

When we see what charges they face, what kind of confrontation they are facing there. With what slander, with what schemes. From Serbia and others, even from some Albanian speakers. Of course there's my war. It is the labor and sacrifice of those men who have made themselves free. There is no Hashim Thaci, could have been another one instead. But there is Kosovo freedom, our liberation”, Hasani has said.

According to him, the charges being brought against them are groundless and prompted by slander. Hasan has considered this process a major historical injustice.

He also criticised the international silence of crimes committed by Serbia, including the massacre in the Dubrava prison, where 118 Albanian prisoners were killed and hundreds more injured.

Hasan declared crimes committed by the Serbian state organisedly, but only The KLA is being tried for alleged crimes.

“Therefore their sentence there, is unaffordable. It will create unrest not only in Kosovo, but also in the region. Because we have Albanians in Macedonia who have fought in Kosovo, Albanians of Albania, Albanians of Presevo, of Montenegro, of the diaspora. Of all the areas in Kosovo there are martyrs, their blood is lying in every inch of Kosovo. Which is why you wait, well said, no. No way, no one will. But I'm not going to let it be my war, it's our freedom...

And now in front of Serbia, we go to court and get accused. When Serbia's crimes are not judged by anyone. Where the Serbian state has participated directly in prisons. From the Guardian, the policeman, the soldier, to the Serb prisoner. From the ministry until the direct president has participated as state institutions in the killing of 118 people and injuring hundreds of others (in Dubrava prison)”, Hasani has added.

Regarding domestic political developments, Hasan has said there is still no agreement for new governance.

“Today we were in the Dubrava prison at the commemoration of the 26th anniversary. And there was the prime minister and justice minister, MP colleagues. So we didn't talk about anything and we don't have anything new about that meeting we were in.

I can't believe there's gonna be such an opportunity without a deal. I think political subjects are going to sit down, understand the importance, time, need and moment for a government due to the political circumstances that are of the world. Of course, the Special Court is our challenge. Therefore, people, in this case politicians, party leaders must find courage, strength and move forward...”, Hasan has said, among other things.
