Meta remains outside the country, refuses to resign to pave the way for his mandate

Ilir Meta, president of the Freedom Party, has reacted for the first time after the end of the May 11th parliamentary elections, where he remained outside Albania's Parliament, failing to secure an MP's mandate, even though he competed as part of the Alliance's Open List for Magnificent Albania.

From his prisoner cell, Meta has publicly thanked about 8 thousand citizens who voted for him, naming them as “heronj”.

“S first I thank about 8 thousand electors who voted for Ilir Metaj, who resisted the extraordinary pressures of Narcostates and sold neither freedom nor soul nor character in the face of a state criminal machine that seriously violated the standards of elections, democracy and the rule of law at its core. To me, they are not voters but heroes and will enjoy all my unlimited gratitude” forever, writes Meta.

Following his statement, Meta has also responded to rumours that have suggested the resignation of the winning candidates of the Freedom Party in Tirana County to pave the way for his entry into the Assembly.

Some kind but other devilish voices also suggest that as a way of receiving my parliamentary mandate, the resignation of Freedom Party candidates on the closed list of Tirana County. I want to assure all that Ilir Metaj since 2008, since the disastrous constitutional changes were made, has fought for representation only through the free and open will of citizens, consistently and principledly, because this is a matter of obedience and character, and therefore I cannot accept any trick or pragmatistic solution that goes against the major causes for which I have fought and will always fight. ”

He has also praised the dedication of his associates.
