After a warm reception at the Elise Palace, the German Chancellor announced increased co-operation with France in defence policy.
“Joint measures are planned to further strengthen Europe's security and defence capabilities,” said Merz at a joint press conference with French President Macro.
According to the Chancellor, among other things, the German-French Defence Council will strengthen and bilateral co-operation in arms will deepen. Merz has also stressed that all EU member states must increase defence spending.
Merz has also announced that in the coming weeks, he plans to visit Ukraine, saying he wants to contribute “with everything possible to secure a sustainable” ceasefire.. /Periscopi/
