The lack of ZRE and AKK in the meeting for the energy crisis, Azem: Requesting annulment or delay in the decision to evacuate businesses from regulated market

With the initiative of Democratic League of Kosovo deputies (LDK), supported by other Parliament deputies, a joint meeting in the Kosovo Assembly has been held today with representatives of the business community and K company. ESCO, to discuss the consequences of the Energy Regulatory Office ( ZRGE), for leaving [...]
LDK MP Wisar Azemi, through a Facebook status, has expressed concern over the lack of ERE participation and the Competition Authority at this meeting, though both institutions have legal obligation to report before the Assembly.
Unfortunately, these institutions chose not to face MPs and the public for a decision with serious consequences to the country's economy. Just two days ago, ZRE had attended a meeting of LVV deputies, but not in the Assembly, but in the Government building. This is not professionalism, this is Servilism”, has declared Azem.
During the discussions, participants focused on the socioeconomic effects of the decision, the lack of real competition on the liberalised market, as well as the controversial interpretation of Article 37, paragraph 2 of the Law on Electric Energy, under which the exclusion of businesses has been undertaken from the universal service.
Business representatives, especially from the production sector, warned that this decision would be unable to operate their companies, due to increased energy prices, which significantly increases production costs and makes them uncompetitive in both the domestic and international markets.
The meeting concluded with a public request to the ZRE and the Government of Kosovo, to annul or at least postpone for a year the implementation of this decision, until the creation of conditions for a functional, transparent and competitive market dealt with the law and in the interest of the national economy. /Periscope/
