Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Memli Krasniqi has celebrated today the 24th anniversary of one of the darkest events of our new history ʹ the massacre in Dubrava Prison, where from 19 May to 24 May 1999, Serbian criminal forces brutally slaughtered 117 Albanian prisoners and injured more than 200 others.
Krasniqi said this massacre, as well as many other crimes committed against the people of Kosovo, constitutes a clear testimony to the genocide planned by the Serbian regime against the Albanian population.
He pointed out that remembering this tragedy reminds us of the high price of freedom we enjoy today and the need never to forget the sacrifice.
With great pain, we commemorate 117 Albanian prisoners who were murdered dehumanly by the Serbian regime. We honor all survivors of this massacre, who had the power to testify to the terror experienced and to tell the world the painful truth of Dubrava,” Krasniqi said.
He stressed that the least that can be done is for the perpetrators of this massacre to be brought to justice and to receive due punishment.
The loss of justice for Dubrava victims is an open wound for Kosovo. We will continue to seek justice, not for revenge, but for truth and for the future,” Chairman of PDK.
