Kos calls for quick formation of Kosovo institutions

The European Enlargement Commission has called for the quickest formation of institutions in Kosovo, which would enable the implementation of European reforms and the benefit of the European Development Plan's financial means. “Now is in the interest of Kosovo to form its institutions quickly, in order to advance reforms [...]
The “is now in the interest of Kosovo to form its institutions quickly, in order to advance urgent Evropi reforms. Among them, the signing and ratification of agreements related to the Development Plan should be addressed with priorities by the government and the new assembly. This would enable the release of funds from this instrument, provided all other criteria --” are met, said Marta Kos ʹthe European Commissioner for Enlargement.
The debate on Kosovo was held Tuesday evening on the eve of the resolution vote, which, among other things, would require the process of dialogue with Serbia to end with mutual recognition.
The resolution will call on five EU member states that still do not recognise Kosovo's independence to do so. Kosovo's application for EU candidate status will be welcomed, as well as support for membership in the Council of Europe and NATO's Partnership for Peace.
The author of the resolution to be voted on is Euro-deputet Riho Terras, a rapporteur for Kosovo in the European Parliament.
“We call for the immediate removal of the European Union's punitive measures. They have been unfair and unnecessary from the start. The EU finances many projects and programmes designed to support the European agenda in Kosovo. That is why we should abolish the measures and let Kosovo progress with the funds we provide “, said Riho Terras, the Eurodeput.
The removal of punitive measures is also cited in the resolution expected to be voted today.
In this document, concern over the security situation in northern Kosovo is expressed, especially after the armed attack on Banjska and on the Iber-Lepenc channel.
The resolution will require that the perpetrators of these violent acts be brought to justice. In addition, it will express regret that Serbia has not yet prosecuted those responsible for the terrorist attack on Banjska, including Milan Radociqi. / RTK
