Lawyer Arian Koci has come to the defense of Prosecutor Amir Shala, who is handling the Department of Agriculture case, where the previous day the incumbent minister Faton Peci was taken into custody.
Koci has said that when a prosecutor is attacked without evidence, to create public pressure, not just justice is damaged, but we are all injured.
I totally understand that Mr. Peci wants to be protected in front of the public. He has the right to defend himself. He also has the right to be angry. I wish to prove innocence! But when a prosecutor is attacked without evidence just to create public pressure, justice is not damaged. We're all hurt”, Koci wrote.
Complete Koci Post:
A lawyer who defends a prosecutor is no ordinary act.
Unwise, the opportunists and the police had said.
I don't bring sympathy. It doesn't add customers.
But when you're convinced that someone inside the system has not lost dignity, you can't keep silent.
Uh-
I'm in permanent confrontation with prosecutors... professional confrontation.
This is the nature of my profession: to challenge professionally, to challenge facts, accusations, logic.
Not praise them.
Uh-
In private, I don't keep in touch.
No coffee, no friendship, no text messages at times.
Some, however, respect them. Not even a word.
Because respect is born, not from the vicinity, but from the way they carry their burden.
They have moral and professional integrity.
They're few.
They do the job. The laws apply. No shopping. They do not harm for foreign interests.
They don't serve the system with compromise but content.
That group includes special prosecutor Admir Shala, who is currently investigating one of the most sensitive cases in the country: the Ministry of Agriculture case.
I know him from the courtroom.
We haven't met in at least five years.
)
Most prosecutors communicate only through paperwork.
With the chief prosecutor almost never.
I do my jobs with honor and dignity.
No mediation. No servilism.
I protect customers with facts, with the law and with all my intellectual capacity.
I don't compromise the truth.
But I don't even keep silent for the sake of good relations with anything.
I'm actually very aggressive in protecting the client.
However, he does not commit criminal acts, nor does he commit dishonest acts, unjust acts.
)
I know there are more and more prosecutors today who don't act out of obedience or professionalism, but out of fear: they start investigating by public pressure.
In some cases, there is also an accusation without powerful evidence.
They leave the barrier and vocation to the court. Just so they can protect themselves.
I have no respect for them. I treat them with complacency. I don't even talk to some people on the street.
)
Special Prosecutor Admir Shala is not one of them.
I've seen it in judgments. Easy, quiet, steady.
We were opponents. But even when we faced it; when I attacked it with evidence and facts, it kept it calm, ethical, and professional integrity.
Is it unerring? No. Nobody is.
We all do!
Is there any possibility that there is no solid evidence for this case? Possibly.
Is it corrupt?
So far I haven't heard any reliable information you upload.
And I have a lot of information. Believe. For many.
For all I know, it's not revenge. It's not manipulative. It's not Malaysian.
And that's not a bit like ours.
)
I totally understand that Mr. Peci wants to be protected in front of the public. He has the right to defend himself.
He also has the right to be angry.
I wish to prove innocence!
But when a prosecutor is attacked without evidence just to create public pressure, justice is not damaged.
We all get hurt.
)
For those who accuse him of connection with the PDK, Prosecutor Shala I tell you:
While the chief prosecutor in Prizren, charges have been investigated and filed against many PDK exhibitors in that city. He didn't spare anybody.
How much was in municipal power? The PDK, the party's officials, has been the main target.
Some of them I protected myself.
)
Maybe it's not the best time to protect a prosecutor in this very political, social and media environment. Where everyone is against everyone.
But I don't care about time or opinion.
I don't control, I don't fuck with anybody!
I speak when I'm convinced I have to.
I think of just one thing: the truth.
I believe this is my contribution to the greater good.
)
For last, a memory that has not been erased from my memory:
Many years ago, I needed some material evidence.
I went to Special Prosecution and asked to see Attorney Shala.
They told me:
“Admir is on annual leave. During Ramadan he always exploits rest. ”
)
Fasting from dawn to sunset with no water and no food in many cases lowers the level of energy, concentration, and physical resistance.
Especially in the afternoon.
For many professionals with sensitive decision-making, this affects daily performance.
However, this mayor is not evidence of the prosecutor's honesty.
But it is a significant indication of a conscientious functioning.
And in a system where in many cases the conscience is missing.
)
Our good fortune is that Admir Shala is not alone.
There are others like him.
A little but enough not to give up hope./Periscopi/
