US KFOR soldiers, assigned to the mission's East Regional Command, joined members of the Kosovo Mountain Peace Research Service (a volunteer organisation offering assistance and rescue in the mountainous areas of Kosovo), to hold joint training for emergency management.
KFOR said this practical training and exchange of knowledge among experts help boost readiness and co-operation between KFOR troops and local first response agencies in emergency cases.
“Training included first medical care, rescue at high altitudes and mountain areas, landing by rope (rappelling), as well as training for divers”, the report said.
KFOR reiterated that it continues to implement its mandate based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 to contribute to a secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and to guarantee freedom of movement at any time and impartially.
KFOR works in close co-operation with the Kosovo Police and the European Union for Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), in their respective roles as security responsible. /Periscope/
