Bilateral charges come a day after India attacked several locations in Pakistan with missiles, killing 31 civilians, according to Pakistani officials. New Delhi said the attacks were revenge for the armed attack that killed 26 people last month in the part of Kashmir, controlled by India. This state has accused Pakistan of standing behind this attack, but Islamabad has denied having a finger on it.
Since then, both sides have exchanged fire in Kashmir, and Pakistan has claimed to have killed dozens of Indian soldiers, but India has not confirmed anything like that, Periscope.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shefbas Sharif has pledged he will avenge India's air strikes, boosting fears that the two states are heading towards a full conflict. Leaders from both states are facing pressure to show power and revenge for the attacks, while leaders have exacerbated rhetoric.
Both states are at odds with Kashmir. India and Pakistan have fought three wars for this region in Himalayas, which is divided between them and claimed by the two states.
After increasing tensions, India has evacuated thousands of people from villages on the border in the region. Meanwhile, some 2,000 residents have left their homes in Pakistan - administered Kashmir. /REL/
