The group said in a statement it was prepared to release 10 surviving Israeli hostages and troops of 18 dead hostages -- the number specified in the proposed agreement -- in exchange for an agreed release of Palestinian prisoners.
In a detailed response, Hamas reiterated the known conditions of the movement -- a permanent ceasefire, a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and guarantees of the ongoing flow of humanitarian aid.
None of this is in the offer that is currently on the table, and Hamas' response did not constitute a clear rejection or a clear acceptance of the proposal.
