Germany's conservative political union CDU/ CSU and the Social Democrats of the Left Centre (SPD) are signed in a coalition agreement in Berlin, which paves the way for a new government to swear on Tuesday.
The leader of the CDU Party, Friedrich Merz, determined to swear as Germany's new Chancellor, pledged that the three sides would be “will go to work by force”.
We know it is our almost historic obligation to bring this coalition to success. We are determined to do this together”, he said before the signing.
The motto of the 144-page coalition agreement is “responsibility for Germany”, Telegraphy broadcast.
“German may successfully own any task separately and in close co-operation with our world partners and friends”, the document says.
The deal renews “The promise of the social market economy ʹ possibilities and prosperity for all” and says the new government will strengthen Germany's defence capabilities to protect freedom and peace.
Intelligence and Police Services will be provided with extended competencies, and in case of several criminal acts, security services will be allowed to use artificial intelligence to analyse accessible data to the public.
Coalition parties have also announced a new, more stable approach to migration policy”.
The plan is to suspend voluntary accession programmes and family reunification. Moreover, asylum seekers must flee to the “border in co-ordination with European partners”.
A new law is planned for federal police, which will enable the application for a halt pending expulsion for foreigners who are forced to leave the country.
The partial liberalisation of the cannabis initiated by the previous government will be “openly viewed” in the fall.
In the introduction of the agreement, the parties reaffirm their commitment to the social market economy with the aim of creating “opportunities and prosperity for all”.
Measures are planned to reduce energy costs, speed up authorisation processes and ease some of the burdens for company founders.
In the middle of the legislative period, the coalition is planning to ease the burden for small and medium income by reducing income tax.
Moreover, tax incentives should be created for longer hours of work. A restoration of the lower VAT rate of 7% for the hotel sector is planned by 2026.
The document says the coalition is committed to the Climate Agreement in Paris, and the goal of making the German climate neutral by 2045.
The coalition is also planning to abolish the so-called Warming Act, which was introduced under the previous government, and replace it with a new Construction Energy Act.
This will be more open to technology, more flexible and friendly for users, with a focus on effectively lowering CO2 emissions. /Periscope/
