The Israeli Army carried out air strikes in the Gaza Strip Sunday, killing at least 20 Palestinians in the Palestinian enclave, including a local journalist and a senior rescue service official, according to health authorities.
Israel carried out separate attacks at Han Yunis in the south, in Jabalia in the north, and Nusseyat in central Gaza, according to doctors.
In Jabalia, doctors said that journalist Hassan Majdi Abu Warda and several members of his family were killed by an air strike that hit his house on Sunday morning.
Another air strike in Nusira killed Ashraf Abu Nar, a senior civil emergency service official in the territory, and his wife in their home, added doctors.
The Israeli army has not commented until now on Sunday's attacks.
The number of journalists killed in Gaza since the beginning of the war in 2023 has increased to 20, according to the Government's Office in Gaza, which is led by Hamasi the Palestinian group declared a terrorist organisation by the US and the EU.
Israel is continuing its military offensive and has so far allowed minimal assistance to enter Palestinian territory.
Gaza has been under Israeli blockade for nearly three months, and experts warn that many of its 2 million inhabitants are at extreme risk of starvation.
Even the United States, Israel's biggest supporters, has voiced concerns about the hunger crisis.
Israel has announced that it will continue its attacks until Hamas release all 58 remaining Israeli hostages and disarmed.
Less than half of the hostages still in Gaza are believed to be alive.
The Gaza war began when Hamas-led militants attacked southern Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking about 250 hostages. Israel says 58 hostages remain in Gaza, though it is believed that about 35 of them are dead.
Since then, Israel's war has killed more than 53,000 people in Gaza, many of them women and children, according to Palestinian health officials./Periscopi/
