All this because businesses dealing with the import and slaughter of animals did not declare in AUV their slaughter and did not inform ATK of the slaughtered meat and its market extraction.
The tax evasion of these businesses caused damage to the Republic of Kosovo's budget of no less than 28m and 917m and 933 euros and 30 cents. So did economist Lulzim Beqiri, who made these preliminary estimates exclusively for Kiks Kosova.
According to data provided by Kosovo Customs during 2023, 90 thousand and 404 animal heads were imported to Kosovo, which cost 71m and 235 thousand euros, for which importing companies paid 5.6m euros in TVS.
Since AUV issued only 32 thousand and 553 certificates of slaughter, businesses did not declare 57 thousand and 851 cases of slaughter, which translated into euros amount to over 45.5m euros.
Out of their failure, Beqiri estimates that ATK lost 8.2m euros from TVS 18 % and 4.5 million more from taxing 10 %s, thus reportedly bringing the total loss to 12.7m euros during 2023 alone.
Not even in the following year is anything better.
According to the economist's calculations, in 2024 businesses did not declare 83 million and 781 cases of animal slaughter.
Given that the average price of animals imported for that year, according to data Customs sent to Kixi, was 688 euros, the value of animals that disappeared from the system was over 57.6m euros.
According to this preliminary estimate, the ATK lost over 10.3m euros from TVS 18% and more than 5.7m euros from the 10% tax.
While ATK was asleep, by the meat industry, the state of Kosovo lost nothing less than 16.1m euros during the year 2024 alone.
The collection of losses from the avoidance of TVS and taxes these businesses make over the past 2 years rounds it up to 30m euros the damage that caused the Republic of Kosovo budget.
And from ATK, via e-mail, they told Kixie that during 2023, he'd pronounced 25 fines for contempt of slaughtered meat.
The value of these fines translated into the euro is 17 thousand and 135 euros.
