The last decision comes after a political agreement reached last week by EU foreign ministers to lift sanctions.
According to Reuters, the Council has announced that the EU will still retain sanctions related to the Assad government and restrictions for security reasons, while also impose new sanctions on individuals and subjects linked to the wave of violence in March.
The Council will continue to monitor developments on the ground and is ready to impose further restrictive measures against human rights offenders and those that promote instability in Syria,” said in the Council's statement.
