Kosovo's Economic Oda, American Economic Oda, German-Kosovo Economic Oda, Business Club and Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the meeting with businesses affected by the Energy Regulatory Office's decision to liberalise the energy market, called for cancellation of that decision.
In this case, this decision was called unaffordable and endangers the financial stability of many companies. As stated, if the call for cancellation is not considered, additional cost subsidies are seen as a solution. On the contrary, they warned of expressions of discontent in other forms, without excluding the possibility of protests.
The chairman of the Kosovo Economic Ode, Lulzim Rafuna, rejected the open energy market at this stage, emphasising the consequences for businesses.
“Businesses are not prepared for a free energy market”, Rafuna said.
Business Club Director Ilir Ibrahimi said businesses have not had the time to prepare to deal with the free energy market.
This is a serious decision that no business can survive”, Ibrahim said.
Even the head of the Association of Kosovar Producers, Conspiracy Ajvazi, saw the ERE decision to liberalise the energy market for businesses.
The first “request is to postpone ZRE's entry into force for at least a year, while the second requirement is the requirement for subsidising this additional cost to producers”, Ajvazi said.
Representatives of many businesses also attended the meeting. The joint appointment of their discussions was the request to cancel the ZRE decision for energy market liberalisation for 1300 businesses.
The Energy Regulatory Office has announced that from June 1st businesses that have over 50 employees or circulation over 10m euros will appear on the free electricity market. /Periscope/
