“excellent co-operation and co-ordination between the United States and Kosovo according to our Extradition Treaty. A defendant has been successfully extradited to the United States to face justice on charges of harming American citizens. We are grateful to the Kosovo authorities for their continued support. This concerted effort improves public security and makes both our nations safer”, said the embassy's post.
The 33-year-old from Kosovo, Liridon Masurica, also known as “@blackdb”, has been extradited from Kosovo to the US after being charged with an indictment of equipment fraud.
If convicted on all counts, Masurica faces a maximum sentence of 55 years in federal prison.
Masurica, citizens and Kosovo residents, was taken into custody by authorities in Kosovo on December 12th 2017 and extradited on May 9th to the United States in line with the extradition treaty between the United States and the Republic of Kosovo. Masurica appeared for the first time at the federal court in Tampa on 12 May 2025, in front of United States magistrate Lindsay Saxe Griffin and was ordered to be held in custody pending trial.
