Two people have died and another 31 have been injured Sunday morning in a traffic accident on the Zagreb-Belgrade highway, between Popovaca and Krizhi, where a car and a bus, both with Bosnia and Herzegovina license plates, crashed.
According to Croatia's Health Ministry, 29 of the injured were transported for medical treatment to hospitals in Zagreb, Sisak and Pakrac, followed Radio Free Europe.
According to Croatian Radio Television (HRT), the vehicle first crashed into a deer, which caused the car to stop on the street. The driver came out of the vehicle and tried to signal other vehicles to slow down, but the back bus failed to see him in time and crashed into the car. As a result, the car broke the fence and went into the opposite lane and the bus was turned upside down.
The Croatian Health Ministry announced that all emergency services, including nine rescue teams, were immediately released at the scene.
“We express condolences to the families of the victims and wish for rapid recovery of all injured”, the Croatian Health Ministry report said.
After the investigation was completed at the scene, the A3 Bregana-Lipovac highway has been re-opened in both directions, Croatia Automobist Club (HAK) announced. Meanwhile, it has been reported that a long column of vehicles headed for Bregana has been created after the accident, and the column has reached about 22 miles [22 km]. /Periscope/
