Peter Sullivan was imprisoned for the 1986 murder of 21-year-old barist Diane Sindall, who faced a sexual assault on Birkenhead, Merseyside while returning home from work.
The Criminal Affairs Review Commission, established to investigate possible errors of justice, had brought Mr. Sullivan back at the appeals court last year, after new tests found a profile DNA showing an unknown attacker in sperm samples stored by the crime scene.
Sullivan, now 68, is believed to be the victim of the longest justice mistake involving a living prisoner in British legal history. /Periscopi/
