According to Yassir Iqbal Dashti, a government official in Khuzdar, the bus belonged to the Army Public School and was transporting children in the morning when it was attacked.
Pakistan's Interior Minister Mothin Naqvi strongly condemned the attack, while expressing pain and deep grief over the loss of children's lives.
The enemy attacked innocent children with barbarians. This attack on a school bus is a hated act aimed at destabilizing the country”, the minister's statement said.
