In Kosovo Specialised Chambers ( DPSK) in The Hague, has begun the Appeal of Peter Shala hearing, in which he is present through video connection.
It became known there that Shala had handed 14 appeals points against the Constitutional Court's decision, with which he was sentenced to 18 years in prison for war crimes, reports “Justice Vow “.
In his appeal, according to Judge Michele Picard, Shala has said that the court in his case has committed legal and actual errors, and has erred in serving sentence.
As a result, according to the request, the judge says Shala has demanded that the sentence be annulled and acquitted of all charges. Also, as an alternative, turning the matter into retrial has been called for, and if a proper sentence is needed.
The prosecution and defender of the victims have rejected the appeal, demanding that Shala's request be completely or in part dropped.
Otherwise, on March 28th, 025 has been rejected by a defense request to be called Sokol Dobruna as her witness.
In her decision, the head of the court, Michel Picard, has said the proposed evidence would not affect the trial of Shala in case they were accepted during the first-degree trial, where Shala was sentenced to 18 years in prison for war crimes.
By contrast, Peter Shala, represented by his defense, had submitted to the Appeals a plea against the reform order being pronounced on November 29, 2024, which imposed him on the victims to pay 208 thousand euros./Periscopi/
