The defendants are in custody. Basel-Landschaft's public prosecutor's office has concluded the criminal investigation against three people of Albanian citizenship, aged 30 to 34, and has filed indictments at the Basel-Landschaft criminal court for serious violations of the Law on Narcotics, the public prosecutor's office wrote in a statement.
Based on the results of the investigation, the Public Prosecutor's Office of Basel-Landschaft assumes that between April 28th 2022 and May 2, 2022, some persons allegedly included the three indictees were looking for a shipping container at the facilities of a container terminal in the Basel-Landschaft canton, writes Blick.ch.
In addition to about 300 jute bags containing green coffee, the container was loaded with about 20 sacks, which, besides green coffee, contained a total of about 500 kilograms of cocaine. The public prosecutor's office accuses the defendants of trying to recover cocaine, transport it and transfer it abroad.
Since the accused failed to find in time the shipping container in question at the container terminal and take possession of the drugs, it was transported by train to the legitimate buyer... a Nespresso factory in Romont, the FR, records albinfo.ch.
Workers there discover an unknown white substance while unloading bags of coffee beans. The shipment had come from Brazil, as Fribourg cantonal police announced at the time.
<x0sets were isolated and drugs did not come in contact with any of the products used in production”, police at the time had declared.
An estimated 500kg of cocaine was found and reported to authorities.
The purity of drugs was mostly between 97 and 100 percent, sends albinfo.ch. Basel-Landschaft's public prosecutor's office estimates that the value of seized cocaine would be up to 60 million Swiss francs on the market.
The three defendants are in custody. They're supposed to be innocent. It is not yet known when the main hearings at the Basel-Landschaft Criminal Court will be held.
