Speaking at the Centre for European Studies conference in Brussels, Kos stressed the European institutions' commitment to further enlargement, with Albania at the focus of this process.
“Of course, within my mandate as Enlargement Commissioner we will have new EU memberships from Western Balkan states. With Eddie Rama we have a deal. I always insist that this process is based on merit, but we have agreed to realise that marriage to Albania with Europe at last. We need to open another set of chapters with Albania, and that will happen in June and we will have opened all negotiation chapters. Next will begin closing chapters, which is also a very important process”, Kos said, reports Express, broadcast Periscope.
She praised the progress made by Albania within the framework of European integration reforms, stressing the engagement of all levels of society.
“E singles out Albania because, there is an extraordinary job being done there with citizens' integration reforms and politicians”, the Commissioner said. /Periscope/
