Mrs. Bajrami through a Facebook post has released Kosovo Customs data from “ “Opendata”, where it becomes known that during 2024 Kosovo has exported 150m euros in electricity, while it has imported 142m euros.
“How is it possible that ZRE raised energy tariffs for all for 16.1%? Notes the fact that KESCO buys energy from KEK with only 29.6 Euro.
Why 1,300 local companies are being forced out of the regulated market and talking on the open market that doesn't exist (because so far alone K ESCO is providing energy at multiple higher prices, with the argument that there is not enough energy and that the energy that these companies spend should be imported? According to Kosovo Customs data, the report “Opendata”, during 2024 Kosovo has exported 150m euros in electricity, while it has imported 142m euros.
How is it that ZRE raised energy tariffs for all for 16.1%? Taking into account the fact that KESCO buys energy from KEK with only 29.6 Euro.
Why 1,300 local companies are being forced out of the regulated market and talking on the open market that doesn't exist (because so far alone K ESCO is providing energy at multiple higher prices, with the argument that there is not enough energy and that the energy that these companies spend should be imported?
Even alarmingly, according to Customs data in the first four months of 2025 alone, energy imports have reached 140m euros, as much as imports for the entire year 2024.
The behavior of the Energy Regulatory Office in all this situation is subject to the Prosecution. They on behalf of independence refuse to appear in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, to which they must report according to the Law, but are drawn whenever called by “government”. This is the only one who talks a lot about the situation we've fallen into except that it presents dangerous institutional precedents. Furthermore, ZRE's decisions on raising the price of energy for 128%, “market disorder” and deepening monopolistic practices are turning this sector into cancer for the country.
I call on all institutions to take this situation seriously. Data for import and energy exports is disturbing and requires immediate response. We need an audit, and we need deep investigation. Whoever today reasons this situation is part of the Mafia network that has extended its roots to the most critical energy sector. Energy mafia is no longer limited to Martin and Nagip, much broader. Why no one in state institutions or ZRE makes a sound for the company For the hundreds of millions circulation. State institutions such as Customs and COSTT have dedicated me to the list of companies doing energy trading in 2024. Why?!
We need auditing and investigating all the institutions and companies involved in this sector, because from Customs data, the impression is that we are buying the energy we are selling. It's the last time for institutional action, accountability and protection of public interest.
