Mayor Abdixhiku congratulated Ambassador Antonini on the start of his mandate in Kosovo and wished him success in the new task, praising close relations and continued co-operation between Kosovo and Italy.
During the meeting, President Abdixhiku briefed Ambassador Antonini on the LDK's positions regarding current political developments in the country. He reiterated that the institutional crisis the country is facing is the result of the first party's inability to create a functional parliamentary majority, to elect the Speaker of the Assembly and to constitutionalise institutions.
In this context, Mayor Abdixhiku also reaffirmed the LDK's clear stance that the current political and institutional blockade is unacceptable and is causing direct damage to the interest of our citizens, as well as undermining their well-being.
This situation is directly affecting the daily dysfunction of institutions and hinders further democratic and institutional development of the state. The LDK considers restoring constitutional order and institutional functionality an urgent necessity to guarantee stability and civic trust in the country's institutions.
Chairman Abdixhiku also announced Ambassador Antonini's proposal for the creation of a transitional sweeping government with clearly defined mandates and obligations. He stressed that this proposal is the best temporary and necessary solution to overcoming the current stalemate and converting state functionality. Ambassador Antonini thanked the chairman
Abdixhiku for the reception and expressed Italy's commitment to continue supporting Kosovo in the democratic and integration processes.
