On average, some 43.7 hours a week is worked in Albania, nearly 8 hours more than in EU countries. Albania ranks first in Europe as well, passing Turkey, where EUROSTAT accounts for an average weekly job 43.1 hours.
The long working time is detected in the production, agriculture and construction sectors, where employees are engaged up to 46 hours at work, while the administration is active for 40 hours a week, notes Periscope.
By comparison, the Balkan region generally works longer. In Montenegro, employees are working 42.8 hours a week in Serbia 41.3, in Bosnia 41.2 and in northern Macedonia nearly 40 hours.
In the European Union, in 2023, people capable of working at 20-64 averaged 36.1 hours a week. This number refers to the hours people have really worked on their main work in the week of reference. /euronews
