Ilir Konushevci was born on June 20, 1969, in the village of Lluga in the Podujevo municipality. His childhood was spent in the village of his birth and he attended elementary school in Luluhan and his middle school in Podujevo. He enrolled in the High School at Ferizaj, but he failed to complete it because of his homeland activities.
On 13 May 1992, along with fellow Rexhep Uka, Selim Haziri, Naim Hyseni, Lulzim Podvorica, Naim Haziri, Bejtush Llugaliu and Shaip Haziri founded the illegal or political group “Eagles” This group was organised to counter those who risked the wealth and security of people in Kosovo, also using the combat strategy to realise its goals.
In the oath given by members of the group, it is pointed out: “I swear to the flag and to my friends that the tasks that the group presents, I will faithfully perform, and if necessary, I will give my life to the realisation of our” ideal.
In 1993, the “group Eagles” entered into contact with the LKKK, and after a period of co-operation, engaged in distribution of the LKCK body, “crim”. This co-operation lasted until early 1994, when the “group Eagles” went underground to avoid possible threats.
In June 1996, Ilir met with Commander Zahir Pajaziti and followed him until Zahir's murder in 1997, where he then went underground in Albania, continuing his combat activity for Kosovo's liberation.
In Albania, he co-operated closely with Adrian Krasniqi and many other KLA fighters. He engaged in supply of weapons -- a heavy and dangerous task -- carried out alongside Ardian Krasniqi, following the assassination of Luan Haradinaj.
In early 1998, after Ardian Krasniqi's murder, Iliri took responsibility for bringing arms and co-ordinating the military supply for the KLA. He led a network of collaborators, traveling over 30 times to Kosovo to send various weapons, including heavy and opposing weapons.
On the early morning of May 9, 1998, while Ilir and physician Hazir Mala traveled to Bajram Curr in a truck loaded with weapons, they fell into an ambush organised by Serbian forces, where Ilir was killed. /Periscope/
