Zelensky rejected Putin's proposal and called “another attempt to manipulate”, questioning why a ceasefire should be delayed for more than a week just to secure Putin's silence for his “parade.
We value human life, not parades. That's why we believe and the world believes there is no reason to wait until May 8th. The truce should not be just for a few days, just to return to the killings. It must be immediate, complete and unconditional for at least 30 days to make sure it's safe and guaranteed. This is the foundation that can lead to true diplomacy”.
Earlier, on 28 April, the Kremlin announced a unilateral ceasefire to mark the 80th anniversary of Soviet victory in World War II. The truce, according to Moscow, would last from mid-May 8th until midnight on May 11th. /Periscope/
