Washington Post: Trump aims to expel a million immigrants

US President Donald Trump is planning to expel a million immigrants in his first year of mandate at the White House, reports the Washington Post, citing several sources close to the administration. This ambitious goal significantly exceeds previous deportation figures, with the highest registered number of about 400,000 immigrants in a year during the Barack Obama presidency.
According to WP sources, White House Adviser Stephen Miller is working daily with National Security Department officials and other federal agencies to realise this plan. The Trump administration is currently in talks with about 30 countries to convince them to accept deported immigrants who are not their citizens.
This development comes at a time when uncertainty about the economic future is growing among American citizens. A report titled “The Great Stay: 2025 State of the Labor Market”, conducted by My Perfect Resume platform, shows that 81% of respondents are afraid they could lose their jobs this year, while 20% of them feel “much more concerned” than last year.
The report stresses a marked uncertainty in the US labour market, where workers have started to change jobs less frequently because of fear of holidays and a possible economic recession. /Periscopi/
