The Kosovo Parliament's constitutional session continues today at 10:00, but party positions remain unchanged, blocking the election of the chief parliament.
Vetevendosje holds Haxhiu's candidacy, though it does not have the votes needed to pass it. Opposition parties demand that the VV withdraw from this proposal and offer a more consensual name.
The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo has expressed readiness to support other candidates from VV ranks, citing names like Albanian Selimi or Saranda Bogujevci as more acceptable.
Even the Democratic Party of Kosovo has hinted it could cast a vote for any more moderate VV candidate, as Memli Krasniqi had allied, citing Glauk Konjufca as a possible option.
On the other hand, the Democratic League of Kosovo is classical: for them, no name from Vetevendosje is acceptable and will not vote for them.
Meanwhile, the Social Democrat Initiative, with its three key votes, has abstained against Hadzi. While speculations about Fatmir Limaj's ambitions for the post of Speaker of the Parliament have increased, he himself has changed the tone recently, claiming that “VV doesn't have the numbers” and that “should leave the way”.
From Vetevendosje they've been firm towards this idea. The “has ended that work”, has been the response to Limaj's ambitions, while MP Mefail Bajcinovci has hinted that an agreement with the Initiative may include any government arrangement, but not the post of chief parliament.
Despite lack of votes, Vetevendosje continues to call on the opposition to reflect “and vote for Albulen Haxhiu.
Meanwhile, Albin Kurti, chairman of the VV, has publicly avoided journalists' statements and questions concerning the construction of a parliamentary majority, leaving one of the most critical political issues in the country unanswered./Periscopi/
