State Secretary Marco Rubio attended the NATO Foreign Ministers' meeting in Brussels this week, conveying President Trump's request to increase defence spending to 5% of GDP. Peace is not free. It is time for our allies to engage and invest more in collective security.
During his meetings, Secretary Rubio highlighted this point, meeting with Denmark's Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Japan's Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea Cho Tae-yul, and Belgium's Prime Minister Bart De Weaver.
The secretary also participated in important talks between NATO and Indo-Peacekeeping partners, where China presents threats to our security and prosperity, as well as to Ukraine, where Europe must develop concrete proposals for security arrangements for the Ukrainian people.
