At one particular moment, Macro was photographed embracing Zelensky, before Trump pulled the French president for a brief conversation. According to the professional lip reader, Nicola Hickleling, Trump said: "You're not right here, I need you to do me a favor, you shouldn't be here. ”
At that moment, Zelensky has shaken his head to express agreement, and a priest present has expressed concern about what he heard. In the video footage of this moment, Hicklen also noted a conversation between two leaders, where Zelensky told Trump: “I would like you to do this, but not this way”, while Trump replied: “It's a very interesting strategy. You have security. ”
The improvised meeting of Trump and Zelensky, held within St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, marked the first meeting of the two leaders since their previous clashes at the White House. They were seen discussing from face to face, and the meeting chairs were arranged.
After the funeral, Zelensky said he and Trump had discussed many issues and hoped for positive results. He stressed the need for a complete and unconditional ceasefire and for lasting peace to prevent the outbreak of another war.
The White House named the meeting a multi-productive “implementation”, while Trump posted later on his Social Truth platform, where he criticised Russian President Vladimir Putin for attacks on civilian areas and expressed doubts about his desire to stop the war.
This meeting between Trump and Zelensky marks the first time that the two leaders have been talking since their clash at the Oval Office last year, where Trump had criticised Zelensky for “bigios with World War III”.
At the Pope's funeral, the two leaders seem to have left the past behind for good, while both were sitting alongside hundreds of foreign personalities in Rome. /Periscope/
